Horizon on AWS vs. Microsoft SPLA licensing

In looking at hosting Horizon workloads in AWS vs. Azure, I'm curious how many of you are going the AWS route? I read recently that Microsoft has altered their licensing for running Microsoft 365 licensing when running in DaaS Solutions that aren't on Azure.

In the past, it was permissible to run M365 apps within DaaS under their "Bring your own License" rules. For example, it was legal to run the M365 Apps version of Word within AWS. When orgs renew their EA, Microsoft is now prohibiting running M365 apps on non-Microsoft clouds, specifically, Alibab, Amazon, and Google. https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/licensing/news/updated-licensing-rights-for-dedicated-cloud

As I understand it, you would need to purchase an additional SPLA license to run VDI in non-Azure, which essentially means you'd be double paying for Office.

Has this affected anyone?
