Horizon client black screen display issue

Hi all, your help please...

We are having an issue where when we connect to any Horizon win10 VM it is ok with 1 screen but with 2 it just shows black screen and then doesn't connect.  The VM can then not be connected to again even after restart until you connect to it in the vCenter remote console which seems to reset the display.  Any ideas what might be the issue?  horizon 7.13 (agent is 7.12) Client is 2103.

Hi,

Some questions:

1. What's the vRAM you've set when setting up the VM?

2. What's the resolution for each of the 2 displays?

3. What's the protocol used, PCoIP or Blast?

You can follow the below step to isolate the issue.

  1. Login to Agent VM via vCenter console as local admin.
  2. Go to device manager
  3. Uninstall the graphic driver
  4. And then connect to VDI desktop using View display protocol.

If it work, it is related to graphic driver install with the agent. You can upgrade the agent to 7.13.1 and test if the issue still persist.

Also note the display resolution set at the pool should be higher than the resolution set on the display monitors.

Hi!

Our business had very similar issues with black screens, and it was directly related to the SVGA driver version. I'd recommend making sure that the driver version on your VMs matches what is required in this KB: VMware Horizon SVGA driver reports newer version than the installed Horizon Agent version (2078739)

Hopefully that helps! Once we matched our drivers up, all our black screen issues went away.
