Horizon View - Connection server high avalability

Hello.

How i can achieve full high avalability for Horizon View

Currently i have :

2 connection servers,

In dns two entry  for same name with two different ip ( two connection servers)

eg. viewserv  192.168.1.2

eq     viewserv 192.168.1.1

Zero client terminal has set connection server name "viewserv"

And this is working fine, when one connection server is down, then clients are connecting to second.

But from Horizon Administrator panel if go put one connection server in state Disabled, then clients are connecting to server and displaying info that connection server is disabled.

And cant logon.

How to avoid it?

You need to implement a load balancer that uses health checks/monitors. DNS round robin doesn't have that capability.

Here is a great blog on load balancing Horizon I suggest you check out.

In a recent search I did we need ~12.000 euros to have a load balancers fro the connection and App volume servers.

Are there any free or low cost load balancers out there?

Windows Network Load Balancer (NLB) is the 3rd option in that link that is low cost. You just need to stand up two windows servers.

I've implemented HA Proxy's with keepalived successfully to load balance several pairs of Connection servers.

The only cost it the time required to deploy and learn linux if you don't know it.

These HA Proxy have been stable since the day they were deployed. No issues whatsoever. As long as you implement an intelligent health monitor script you'll be fine.
