Horizon VDI With GPU Grid Instant Floating Pool fails provisioning with cp-replica not powered off

Hello There,

Horizon VDI With GPU Grid Instant Floating Pool fails to provision because the cp-replica is not powered off while publishing the pool.

Parent/Golden VM Specifications:

  1. VMWare Tools
  2. Horizon Agent
  3. App Volume Manager
  4. DEM
  5. Optimized and Finalized
  6. Added PCI Card and Selected appropriate GPU Profile
  7. Licensed For GPU using the GPU License Server
  8. Powered off and taken a snapshot

Pool Settings:

  1. Instant Clone Floating Pool
  2. Display Protocol Blast Extreme
  3. 3D Renderer - GRID GPU
  4. GPU Profile - Same as the PCI on the Golden VM
  5. SysPrep - to join Desktop to AD

With the above configuration, when the pool publishing the process halts at 81% and fails with the following message:

"Error during Provisioning Initial publish failed: Fault type is UNKNOWN_FAULT_FATAL - After waiting for 900 seconds Replica vm-XXXXX is still not powered off. Giving up!"

This appears to only issue using the GPU setup. My other pools with similar configurations without GPU provision and customization work fine. Has anyone run into this issue?

Thanks in Advance,

Rajendar

The root cause of this issue is "Windows Modules Installer" service is stopped. After having the service started the issue is fixed.

Can you try this:

Within this registry key:

HKLM\Software\VMware, Inc.\ViewComposer\ga

Create a DWord entry

GPUpdateEnabledOnIT and set the value to 0
