I realize the Universal broker is a replacement for GSLB, but will I still need ALB in front of the Connection servers? If I don't use ALB will the Universal broker just point to a single pod member?
You are correct, it replaces a global load balancer, but you would still ideally need a local load balancer for each pod in order to ensure the local pod components are highly available. Here's a good architecture and walk-through of the HUB process:
