Horizon Linked Clone Persistent Disk Backups?

How can you take multiple backups of persistent disks so that you can roll back to a certain point? I know that you can detach and re-attach the persistent disk, but is this only for one version of the persistent disk? Trying to have it so that users install apps and user data, and then take a backup at this point. When changes are made again, they may want to take another back up at a different time. And then eventually, restore at the original, first backup that was taken of the original point.

The closest think I can think of is if you have external shared storage device the peristent disks are in that supports storage snapshots you can schedule them. In both the nimble and netapp arrays I've used I created a snapshot policy for even the linked clones them selfs to keep 7 days of snapshots. That way if I need something I could clone the snapshot to a new volume, attach it ,and get what I need.
