Our organization is using smart cards for user authentication in this particular environment. We have it set via Windows group policy to auto-lock the computer when the smart card is removed. This all works fine.
Enter VMware Horizon. On a Win10 thin client, we use the smart cards to authenticate to a VDI pool. This all works great. When you remove the smart card mid session, Horizon auto-disconnects you from the VDI a split second before Windows tries to auto-lock the workstation. Horizon pops up a dialogue box that says 'you have been disconnected because the smart card was removed!' This box prevents Windows from locking the screen, and you can now use Windows without a smart card inserted.
Is there a way to suppress this dialogue box? Alternatively (and this is a little outside the scope of VMware), is anyone aware of a way to force Windows to ignore that dialogue box and lock the screen anyway?
