Horizon Client version 5.5.4 vs version 2203 (build 8.5.0)

I have 2 laptops which I use to connect to my employers infrastructure to work from remote.

On one laptop I use version 5.5.4

The other laptop I use version 2203 (build 8.5.0)

Both laptops running Windows 10 64bit fully patched.

Both Horizon clients (5.5.4) as well as 2203 work well, however I noticed 2203 supports Windows dark mode.

Question: which version is better to use? Which is newer? should I switch from 5.5.4 to 2203 or otherway around?

Why are there even to version ranges for what seems to be almost the same product?

Thanks,

M.

Is it VMware Horizon 8 or Horizon 2006

With Horizon 8 the naming convention changed to denote the year and month of build release in the format (YYMM).

Confusing times call for confusing naming standards. Horizon 2006 is the next version of VMware’s End-User Computing platform.
VMware chose to start using the Microsoft practice of using the year (20) and the release month (06) for its new versioning. This gives us Horizon 2006.

For  Horizon 8 you have client with naming:

For Horizon 7 you have client with naming:
https://customerconnect.vmware.com/downloads/details?downloadGroup=CART23FQ1_WIN_554&productId=863&r...

Finally you have to check Interoperability Result

NOTE:

There is no better version, one is for those who use horizon 8 and another for those who use horizon 7.

You can always use the latest version as long as it is in the compatibility matrix.

Hope it helps to clarify.
