Horizon Client for Red Hat RHEL 6.7 installation failure

I have installed VMware-Horizon-Client-4.0.1-3698616.x64.bundle on RHEL 7.2 and everything works fine.

According to the release notes this kit is also supported on RHEL 6.7. Unfortunately the installation fails.

Can someone provide guidance on what might be wrong or steps to help troubleshoot the problem?

Thanks,

Geoff..

Geoff,

I am experiencing the same problem.  My host is CentOS 6.5 x86_64.  Have you figured out the solution?

thx

EDIT:

I noticed that the file libpython.so embedded in the installer requires GLIBC_2.14 (which I think means GLIBC >= 2.14).  My Fedora 22 box has GLIBC 2.21 and was able to run this installer just fine.  However, my CentOS 6.5 box only has GLIBC_2.12, so basically I gave up.

Can you please provide the outputs of

  # yum list installed | sort

and

  # yum repolist

Thanks,

Hi Geoff,

After checking the release notes:

VMware Horizon Client for Linux Release Notes

The Horizon Client is not supported for RHEL6.7 64bit machines.

SEE:

      • Horizon Client for Linux 4.0 is supported on the following 32-bit operating systems if you use the installer provided by VMware:
        • Ubuntu 12.04, 14.04
        • Red Hat Enterprise Linux (RHEL) 6.7
        • SUSE Linux Enterprise Desktop (SLED) 11 SP4
        • CentOS 6.7
      • Horizon Client for Linux 4.0 is supported on the following 64-bit operating systems if you use the installer provided by VMware:
        • Ubuntu x64 12.04, 14.04
        • Red Hat Enterprise Linux (RHEL) 7.2

Only RHEL 7.2 and Ubuntu 12.04 and 14.04 are supported for the x86_64 platforms.

Also, glibc update is not recommended, but you can always update your glibc by installing GLIBC 2.14 or higher in parallel (Install it to the /opt directory). Then it is available to the programs which require it without breaking your core OS.

Thanks,

Piyush
