We are planning a complete upgrade of our Horizon 7 environment. Currently we are using an on-premise Horizon 7.13.1 install with according composer and several floating desktop pools with linked-clones. Partially we have DEM and APP Volumes 4 integrated, but not for all of the desktops.
Our question: In the first place we decided to upgrade our environment to Horizon 8 8.0.2, because we can use our desktop pool with the linked clones slightly a longer time. Then we would configure the needed instant-clone settings with our AD and generate new desktop-pools with new golden images for instant-clones and use the DEM and App Volume configuration for these "new" pools.
After we have provided all users sufficient desktops we will delete the "old" desktop-pools and take the composer offline. In the last phase we upgrade the system to the latest and greatest Horizon 8 Version.
Is this way a compatible and correct way to upgrade? Do we have missed anything in the plan?
