Horizon 7 replication issue with German Windows 2012 R2 versions?

I'm currently setting up Horizon 7 on Windows 2012 R2 server (German version), and everything seems to work perfectly.

However, the Dashboard complaints about the replication status of the two connection servers.

Error Message:

"Replikationsstatus des Verbindungsservers konnte nicht abgerufen werden"

Translation: "Replication status could not be retrieved"

After checking the log files it looks like a translation issue to me, because replication works as expected, i.e. no errors

repadmin.exe /showrepl vmview-cs02:389 /csv

What I found in the debug logfile is:

DEBUG (0C88-0680) <pool-3-thread-1> [ReplicationStatusCollector] Running cmd to fetch replication of VMVIEW-CS02 : repadmin /showrepl VMVIEW-CS02:389 /csv

Did someone already experience such an issue, and has a solution?

Just asking here in the communities prior to opening a support case!

Hi André,

...i´ve moved/updated our lab-environment today from Horizon 6 (German Windows 2008R2) to Horizon 7 (German Windows 2012R2, latest updates...) and the dashboard shows exactly the same messages about our two connection-servers! repadmin and logs are all ok, no errors...pools are working fine, client´s can connect without any problems aso. I´t really seems to be a "oups...there are some crazy german words in our repadmin-output if we run this on a german windows"-problem :slightly_smiling_face: ...and, of course, there are no hints in the release-notes or documentation of horizon 7 complaining about incompatibilities with non-englisch os-versions for connection-server...or did i missed something ?!?

i feel like back to 2008 and "VMware VDM", installed on a non-english Windows 2003...that was fun!

did you open a case right now ?!? i´m very interested in the reaction and, finally, the solution...

regards

René

Hey René,

thanks a lot for the comment. Although I am quite sure that this is "only" a language bug, it feels good to know I'm not the only one.

I didn't have the time to open a support case yet, because I ran into other issues with old View Clients on some of the customer's Thin Clients. Although the interop matrix lists View Client 3.2 as supported with Horizon 7.0, it doesn't seem to work, and we needed to start upgrading the Thin Clients.

Last weekend i upgraded Horizon View Connection/Security Server from v6.1.x to v7.0.0 on Windows Server 2008 R2 (German) and get exactly the same false positive alert "Replication status could not be retrieved" for connection servers in Dashboard. The debug log shows exactly the same parsing error. Has this incident already been reported to VMWare support?

I didn't have the chance to open a support case yet, and have to delay it until the next time I visit the customer.

VMWare Support has confirmed that this is a known "cosmetic" issue beeing resolved with the next update for Horizon View 7.0.0. Replication will be functioning as normal, so this will not cause any issues to the environment.

Hi,

I figured out, that the problem could be solved in changing the Language of the "Local System" Account. Horizon View uses the windows native command "repadmin" command to analyse the replication status. If the result is in german the replication status failed.

<pool-3-thread-1> [ReplicationStatusCollector] Successfully executed cmd: repadmin /showrepl SRV01110:389 /csv

<pool-3-thread-1> [ReplicationStatusCollector] Error while parsing replication status of the server:SRV01110,

CSVRecord [comment=null, mapping=null, recordNumber=1, values=[showrepl_COLUMNS, Ziel-DSA-Standort, Ziel-DSA, Namenskontext, Quell-DSA-Standort, Quell-DSA, Transporttyp, Fehleranzahl, Zeit des letzten Fehlers, Zeit des letztes Erfolgs, Status des letzten Fehlers]]

First change your current admin the language on the View Connection Broker to "English US", reboot server

Second, login again,  Control Panel --> Clock, Language, and Region --> Region, Change Location --> Administrative -->Copy settings (Welcome Screen and new user accounts) --> Check "Welcome screen and system accounts", ok, reboot server

Verify the connection boker logfiles "showrepl_COLUMNS" and the Horizion View Dashboard.
