HP T5520 With Windows CE 5.0 cant connect to VMware View Portal

Hello people:

I have been trying the VMware View 3 solution in a test enviroment I already have the configuration tested with my laptop

and when I decided to start trying with a thin client the issues start it

First I search in the compatibility guide to get a supported HP thin client and I got the HP T5520 with a Windows CE 5.0 operative system.

and when I try to log on in the VMware view portal via http://<server ip> I got an error saying the operative system is not compatible wich I cannot understand because the compatibility guide says it is compatible

after that I tryed to do a manual install via executing the installer and the system says there is not enough space to install it wich doesnt make sense too.

I will apreciate any help because I cant understand how this model can appear as compatible and give me this issues in order to test my VMware View solution

thanks

It was indeed option (2), it's fairly well hidden on the HP website, but you need to download their "VDM Broker Add-On for Microsoft Windows CE": http://h20000.www2.hp.com/bizsupport/TechSupport/SoftwareDescription.jsp?lang=en&cc=us&prodTypeId=12...

It can also be found in the "Software - System Management" section of their support download page for the HP T5520. Thanks to wponder and the HP Alliance team for pointing me to the right place.

View does not have its own CE client, if the HP T5520 is listed in the compatibility guide then HP will have developed their own View-compatible client for that system. You will need to use that rather than logging in through the portal.

Thanks for your reply but in the HP portal under the Thinclient software there is not any software for VMware there only a lot for Citrix software.

I also asked in HP support and they told me they dont develop any kind of VMware Client for theirn thin clients

As I said, you will definitely not be able to log in through the View Portal on Windows CE. There are two reasons why the HP T5520 would be in the compatibility list:

1. The T5520 is also available with another OS such as XPe or a Linux derivative and has been certified with one of these

2. HP have a certified client available that runs on CE on the HP T5520

Looking on the HP website, I see no mention of alternate OS options for the T5520 so (2) seems more likely, I'll see if I can find out what's going on here.
