We are now looking if VMWare View is a good solution. We use many USB connected hand-held barcode scanners. With the article "Configuring USB device filters and redirecting Human Interface Devices (HIDs) in View Client (1011... i managed to get them working through PCoIP. I have some industrial PC's that have a VIA processor onboard. That type of processor doesn't support SSE2, so PCoIP doesn't work (known issue). I would like to use VMWare View Client with the RDP connection, one type of client for all PC's. But when i use the RDP connection with VMWare View client, i can see the hand-held barcode scanners when logged in, can connect to them, but when i use the scanner, no text will appear in notepad, for example. But when is use the RDP client from MS, the scanner does work.
Anyone?

When using RDP, you want to let them be redirected using the built-in HID redirection, do not redirect them as USB devices. In fact, if you only need the pasting of barcodes and don't have software that needs more advanced functionality, this should be sufficient for PCoIP also.
Assume for a second they are identical to a keyboard (when pasting barcodes they're essentially just typing the number), if you RDP to a remote physical machine, the RDP session is kept separate from the console so that local keyboard usage doesn't interfere with your remote session. The device will be working, but the output won't be going into your RDP session. PCoIP is a console remoting protocol (think VNC but much better), so it's as if you're sitting in front of the physical machine and the "keyboard" data will be going to the correct session.
Hope that helps explain what you're seeing.

Hi Mike,
Thank you for the answer. Your answer solved my problem: I tried to connect it like an usb device when use the RDP connection in the VMWare View client. Just like you say: it is treated like an keyboard.
Thanks!
