Flashdrive will not redirect

I seem to be having issues redirecting flash drives with View Client 5.2, I think it effects other clients as well.

I've looked at this article http://kb.vmware.com/selfservice/microsites/search.do?language=en_US&cmd=displayKC&externalId=102699... and everything seems to be setup right including enabling the policy. I know usb redirection works becuase printers appear to redirect. to reitterate seems like just uSB flash drives.

Does anyone have any advice for me on this issue?

Hi KJK.

What client os are you using?

How big is the USB-drives and what kind of formatting does it have?

FAT32 and 16GB

I've tried with other sizes as well.

My Client is Windows 7. The VDI is also Windows 7

By the way I see this just effects PCOIP. RDP redirects the drives fine.

Can you elaborate what you mean with "printers seem to redirect?"

That could be ThinPrint, rather than USB redirection...

Sure.

USB Printers redirect, USB CD Drives, Webcams, etc.

USB Flash drives do not redirect, they do redirect when using RDP but, it seems to redirect as a disk not a USB device. What I mean by that is when in the view VDI, on the USB menu I do not see a a USB drive.

I just tested the 5.2.1-937772 View Client with PCoIP and flash drives are redirecting just fine.

Local OS: Windows 7 x64
VDI OS: Windows 7 x64

I'm using 5.2, tried several clients but not working.

Did you have to do anything special to get it working? Are there ports required some where? I've scowered the net trying to find a fix but, can't find anything.

Nothing special is needed, if I connect the device before logging into View I just have to click Connect Device at the top, but if I plug it in after I'm in View it will automatically connect.

Here are the ports: http://pubs.vmware.com/view-50/index.jsp?topic=/com.vmware.view.security.doc/GUID-A0B8412C-6C42-4C78...

Here are the ones I have opened for external users:

tcp/udp 4172

tcp/udp 50002

tcp 3389

tcp 4001

tcp 902

tcp 9247

tcp 80

tcp 443
