Failed install of Composer

Trying to install view 4.5 composer on 2003 x64 with Vsphere 4.0 fails to install. Looking in the logs I get the following.:

Are you running the View Composer install as an Administrator?

First try to download the view composer install again. It may be a corrupt download. most likely not though.

Second, when installing, right-click the package and install as administrator. I have found that binding issues for cert's are because of lack of privileges.

Hope that helps.

No need to re-download the file. Just check the file hashes.

VMware-viewcomposer-2.5.0-291081.exe

CRC32: 6D829181

MD5: C317F2B61CF4A1F51807ADCDE12C40E9

I'm also getting this error:

"SimConfig.Operation.QueryCertificateOperation - Failed to query certificate."

"SimConfig.Operation.BindCertificateOperation - Failed to bind certificate."

Trying to install this on a 2008 R1 x64 OS running vCenter 4.1, using a remote SQL 2008 database. I've tried running it as administrator, redownloaded the .exe and verified the hash.

Any idea? If I launch the certificates.msc and check the computer/personal store, I can verify that the self-created cert is there. Even after deleting and recreating the database, still fails with the same errors.

Attached relevant install logs...

OK, figured it out. Had to search the registry for 18443 (the port that Composer uses), delete the registry key and then the reinstall worked. It must have written to it the initial time Composer failed to install, and during the rollback it didn’t remove the key which prevented subsequent reinstall attempts. Here’s the key I deleted: Windows Registry Editor Version 5.00 "SslCertHash"=hex:58,ca,67,04,f8,22,8d,5f,87,91,ec,5d,4b,70,03,fa,d6,06,37,a1 "DefaultSslCertCheckMode"=dword:00000000 "DefaultSslRevocationFreshnessTime"=dword:00000000 "DefaultSslRevocationUrlRetrievalTimeout"=dword:00000000 "DefaultFlags"=dword:00000000 "SslCertStoreName"="My" "AppId"=hex:00,00,00,00,00,00,00,00,00,00,00,00,00,00,00,00 The install worked after that.

Thanks for all the suggestions. We just figured it out. We had an issue with our domain certificate authority services. Once we resolved that it installed with no problems.
