Has anyone used a USB Stick with any of the Thin-Client devices and do they work??
Or even a Floppy or Cd-Rom Drive if needed?
there are lots of companies that do USB via IP that should work
I know you can do USB via IP such as for Dongles......I'm wondering if I can use a USB Stick on the Thin-Client and it will appear on the Users Remote Desktop...so they can use it as a Floppy.
RDP can support that.
It depends on the thin client you use. For example the Wyse S10 does not (yet) support that while many other thin clients do.
As always in a VDI implementation what you can do is determined and is a function of the "bricks" you use.

Do you happen to know of a Thin-Client that does do it. We are currently evaluating Wyse Winterm SX0 and Dual Video V50 and NeoWare Boxes.
Problem we are running into is, we would like to just start deploying these boxes out, and a issue we are running into is that a few departments get CD's from the State that they need to load, so hence where we are stuck because Thin-Clients are far as I know don't come with Cd-Roms!
Even with the devices that support optical media, the biggest challenge is copying all that data across. It can get time consuming. Most the thin client deployments I have worked on, we implemented what we call a media or filling station. This was a PC in a secure location where authorized users could use a CDROM to upload data to the network.
I have tried a Neoware e140 (w/ Linux) and it could map the USB key. I haven't tried with a USB cd.rom but I suppose it would work.
I suspect most of the WinCE/Linux thin clients would support USB data devices. Being the S10 a particular animal (with a VERY thin OS) it doesn't support it although I was told it will in a future firmware upgrade.

Any Thin Client that runs under ACP's ThinManager Thin Client management software will support USB memory sticks. This even includes the new MultiMonitor Thin Clients, which can host up to 4 different sessions on a single client.
Really? The ACP newsletter I just got yesterday mentions MultiMonitor as a feature coming in 3.1... and it also says that won't be released until "by June". Is this available to the public yet?
ThinManager, question for you because I never heard of your product? Is your site joined together with VMWARE or area partner? So If I am understanding this right, and correct me if I am wrong....I would install ThinManager Software on a VM Server and then all my Thin-Clients(no matter which one, NeoWare, Wyse, etc.) talk to this ThinManager Server which directs it to the desktops.
So is it like a Connection Broker??
How much is the price, does it go by how many Thin Clients connect?
ACP's ThinManager product - is a management interface for Thin Clients. Nothing explicitly to do with VMware (The main TS product my company uses here, and the main reason I just don't get the whole VDI thing). http://www.thinmanager.com/index.shtml
So, instead of VmWare you would use this?
NeoWare and Wyse do support Cd-Roms, Floppy Drives and USB Sticks just talked to the Reps.
ACP is currently shipping a MultiMonitor module that works with hardware from Arista and Advantech that supports up to 4 monitors. With the release of 3.1 the same hardware will support up to 5 monitors and get a really slick configuration interface.
No relation to VMware, although we have investigated it. I just saw someone looking for a Thin Client that would support USB memory and offered an alternative that I know will meet that need.
