Hi all,
When I am accessing the virtual desktops that I have assigned to people in my organization, I want to be able to customize the login screen from the one that is listed there. Is there a way to customize the main login page? Also if I write a front end application and want to be able to pass username / password / domain information to it, how can this be done?
Has anyone done this before and if so any help would be appreciated. Thanks!!!
Ken Wilson
Troy,
Thanks for the response. I have already made changes to the web portal login initial message however the main page is more of what I need to be able to customize. I really hope this can be possible someway. I would prefer to have that login webpage reflect my company name instead of VMWare's name. Also as far as the login information username/password/domain, I was really hoping there was a way to pass those fields the information from another website front end that has been built. There has got to be some way I just can't get it figured out and didn't know if others have done anything like this.
Troy, once again thanks for the reply!!
Ken
Ken,
It's not possible to customise the text contents of the page, they are precompiled. However you can change the image and css files with relative ease, though not officially supported. It is also possible to pass the login information from somewhere else, just look at the contents of the form that's submitted at logon through webaccess.
Mike is there any plans to allow customisation of the VDM login page, something along the manner of Citrix' Web Interface modifications and the ability to create a web-part of it for Sharepoint intigration would be a starter for ten

It's not something I've heard anything about internally, Tom. I'll see if there's an internal feature request or work-in-progress and pop a link to this thread on the bug. For anyone else interested in this, feel free to chime in with a "me-too" if it's something you really need.
I definitely think this is something that needs to happen. The ability to hide domains or set default domains through the web page is something that I have been looking for since we started with VDM.
I have several customers who have asked to customize the web interface and/or the VDM client application. Let me know if it's not in the request pipeline and I'll happily submit it.
Cheers Mike,
Next can you pull some strings to get me on the VDM 3 beta

Agreed, I'm pretty sure we've got a feature request in for that one, but even a custom logo and preconfigured default domain would be a great step in the right direction.
"me-too"
I've got this requested as well. The customer likes to see the company logo instead of the VMware logo on the broker login.

ps. a little bit offtopic, he also requested to change the help pages that are accessible through the " RDP-style bar" on top of the screen. These now redirect to an internet page which users aren't able to go to

Is he using the VDM 2.1 client? I just tried this and it's currently working. Suggestion noted though, I quite like the idea of customizing the help screen for an enterprise deployment - though if the user can get to that help bar they arguably no longer need help connecting
Don't forget the proxy would have to be set on the host PC to access external pages...this is something we DON"T want to allow, so an internal option is obviously a better choice...our host PCs are seriously locked down to avoid any security work-arounds...
Add me to the list that would like the VDM Web Login to be customizable. I'd replaced the banner_title_vdm_web_access.gif with an edited one but I still have the VMware logo and another gif to the left I'd like to remove.
I've gone through all the files and I can't determine where I'd edit them. The css isn't going to let me change the layout of the webpage which is being generated via jsp.
Thoughts? Or is this simply just not possible at the moment?

Hi
It would be very nice to customize the Website ob VDM Web Access, especialy the VDM Secure Server.
Florian
Has there been any progress in allowing customization of the logon page? I also need to be able to "re-brand" the page with our corporate logos in place of the default VMware ones. I've been able to replace the following three GIFs to accomplish most of this:
banner_logo.gif
banner_title_v_portal.gif
banner_vmware.gif
However, I am not able to replace the "VMWare Blue" banner that runs accross the top. It looks like it is set with the following code, but I am unable to find this anywhere on the web server....so I am ssuming it must be compiled somewhere:
<tr style="height: 66px; background-color: #41649c;">
<td style="width: 121px; vertical-align: top;">
<img src="/styles/default/banner_vmware.gif" />
</td>
I'd like to simply change the color from VMWare Blue (#41649c) to Black (#000000). Anyone have a suggestion?
Thanks,
Shayne

I too need to "re-brand" the page with our University logos in place of the default VMware ...
I would expect the top horizontal banner to be compiled. I need to add a hyperlink there to a list of available virtualized Labs/Application associations like a TOC/Directory...
@VMwareView Please post and update us all when this capability for build-out is avaiable...
thx
>>It is also possible to pass the login information from somewhere else
Id like to pinpoint this API documentation to push an https client request (from my form ) through VDM's "login Tunnel"
thanks in advance
Aaron
VMWare View has moved a long way since '09 when this thread had its last post added..
However, there still is a need to 're-brand' and 're-design' the default page that users arrive at when browsing to your vdi site with a normal
desktop or mobile browser.
If you find yourself trying to figure out where to begin so you can get your corporate logo or some other verbage on that default page here is
one way to get it done.
