ESXi host 4.1 disconnected during View Connection 4.5 re-composing VMs

The host ESXi server was disconnected during View Connection re-composing VMs and the symptom disappeared i.e. self-correcting to connected state after a minute or so. Ping works fine both way between the ESXi host and the VC

It was thought this intermittent symptom is likely to happen when the target recomposed VMs exceed 20 or so.

Any idea?

Thanks

Did you change any of the default setting for Power or Provisioning Operations?

Hi,

What is your storage layout / configuration? If you're using network storage, is you ESXi Management Network sharing the same subnet / vLAN as your storage? What subnet is your vCenter VM/Server on? Just trying to understand if there would be any reason why network congestion would cause your problem? Also - have you reserved resources under Configuration/System Resource Allocation for ESXi itself? A general recommendation is CPU 1500MHz and Memory 800 MB, requires a reboot though.

Finally, what hardware is allocated to vCenter - how many vCPUs / Memory etc or physical equivalent. If you look at the performance graphs while this issue occured for this Server, do you see any bottlenecks?

Mike
