Dual monitors on HP T5545 Thin Client

I have searched all over and I can't find an answer. Has anyone been able to get dual monitors working with View 4.5 on an HP t4454 thin client?

I have no problem with the client installed on a desktop but when connecting via a thin client it only displays on one monitor. We are evaluting View 4.5 and I really need this to work to justify making the leap to virtual desktops for our users.

I've updated the Thin Client to the latest image and service packs.

Any advice would be greatly appreciated!

There should be a Display drop-down box when you go to select your Available Desktop, that will allow you to select "All Monitors". I just checked one of our units to confirm.

We have dual monitors working with the t5545. We had to switch to Administrator Mode and then go into the Display settings. This will allow you to modify the X config to get to dual monitors. Are you able to get to the Display/Monitor settings?

Yes I have the dual monitors working correctly within the ThinOS, but when launching the View connection, it only detects the one monitor, on the 2nd monitor I can still see the background of the ThinOS desktop. Of course, since I'm still in the evaluation, I can't get support from VMWare. I really want this to work and I know it is supposed to work, but I'm stumped.

What do you have "Max number of monitors" set to under your Pool Settings? Is it greater than 1? Are you selecting Multi-monitor on the view client itself?

Monitors is set to 2 and resolution to the highest number available. Again this works fine from the desktop client. There is no multi-monitor option available on the ThinOS client when connecting and I have upgraded it to the latest OS and client.

Thanks

Ok never mind my previous response, you were right, I forgot to login and look again. I had auto login enabled so it was skipping that screen!

Thanks!

Ok, that helps, but for some reason it now loads on one monitor, and the second monitor stays black. Smiley Sad

Any additional advice?

Well it appears it was just that one desktop. I signed in with a different user and that desktop displayed correctly. Thanks!

Ok well now I feel dumb, this isn't working. Initially the desktop loaded fine, but after logging off and back on, it is still only displaying to one monitor and the 2nd stays black. This is incredibly frustrating.

I too am seeing this so you aren't alone. I opened a ticket with HP and their incompetent oversea's support is no help. I haven't tried since their official ThinOS 4.5 client came out earlier in the week. Have you tried it? I also am having a problem with older monitors with it going full screen. They told me the maximum resolution their T5545 supports is 1024x768! the 4.5 client didn't help with that. Connecting to a View 4.0.1 agent VM everything works fine, full screen and multi-monitor. It's a 4.5 issue.

Yes I am running the new 4.5 client from the HP site. As far as resolution goes, I'm not having any trouble driving a 1280x1024 monitor off the thin client. I just can't get the dual monitors to work correctly. I sure hope it supports higher resolutions as the intended end users will be running 1440x900! I better test that too.
