Domain problem in Vmware View 5.1

I am working on VMware View 5.1.
On one system (windows 2008 R2) i am installing vCenter server but having an error.
Error is "This computer is not a member of a domian. installing cannot continue. please join this computer to a domain and retry this installation".

According to my understanding, i need to install/configure "Active Directory" on my windows system.

My simple direct question is "Is it really necessary to configure Active Directory on the system on which i am trying to install
vCenter server ?" Cant it install and work without it ?

If yes, then please tell.

Are you trying to install vCenter Server or View Connection Server?

vCenter Server does not need and AD but the View Connection Server needs one and will not work without it.

Be aware that the AD needs to run on another server then the View Connection Server.
