I recently noticed that my users are able to Eject the network connection from the VM they are connected to. Looks like this is a VMWare Tools feature, as I have the same ability on my VMWare Fusion VM as in my View deskltops. When you click on the eject media tray icon, you get a menu as shown below:
I would like to be able to hide everything but the Removable disk from this menu, but especially the Network connection. Does anyone know how to do this? I haven't found anything on this when doing research here or on the internet in general. It may be that I'm not using the correct terminology to search, because I can't imagine no one has run into this as an issue before.
Thanks for any help you can provide
If you right click on the start menu, do a properties, taskbar, and customize you should be able to hide icons.
This can be disabled...
Follow the steps in this kb - Disabling the HotPlug capability in ESX 4.0 virtual machines http://kb.vmware.com/kb/1012225
Here is an article explaining how to do this by editing windows registry. http://blogs.vmware.com/kb/2010/06/nic-is-missing-in-my-virtual-machine.html
This is what I was after. Perfect, Thank You.
But you have to put it in GP in case you want to make it "permanent" , because after restarting VM , this value return to original state... i.g. from Capabilities"=dword:00000012 to original 00000016.
It can be dome in Computer Configuration - Preferences - Windows Settings - Registry ....
Then it works just the way you want.
