Deleting workstations in the middle of the pool

We have moved some of our users back off of View and now I have workstations that are sitting in the middle of the pool that I don't need any more. If I modify to the pool settings to only keep the number of systems that I need and then go and delete the workstations no longer in use will it try to recompose the system still in use to give them the proper number sequence or just fill in the blanks if I increase the pool settings again?

I haven't done exactly what you are talking about but I have had provisioning disabled on a pool, deleted middle of the pack pools, and then re enabled provisioning a little later down the road.   When it created the new machines it filled in the missing desktops.

I would test it but I think you would be fine if you deleted first and then changed your number of VMs.
