Delete old unused snapshots of parent VM

During the creation of the parent VM I often made snapshot. Now the Parent VM is complete and running since >100days. I still have a history of 14 snapshots, which are quit big in size (up to 1/3 of the Virtual disk size). I heard that snapshots reduce the performance also of linked clones which might be the source of slow virtual desktops. I need to improve the performance

Now, I also heard that "deleteing" (commiting) snapshots might be a bit risky. What is the savest way to proceed?

Is it ok like this:

1. Cloning the Parent VM to have a "backup"

2. Delting the snapshots one-by-one beginning with the oldest?

Thanks for your suggestions Smiley Happy

If you clone the VM using vCenter the snapshots will be "commited" on the clone - you than can use this clone as parent and erase the original one. I think is the safest way...
