Hi,
We are deploying a large scale VDI install for an application with 800 to 1000 users. The image is the same for all users since they have to access the same 2 applications. The installer says we need a /22 subnet for all these desktops. Will this cause performance issues? How do other sites deploy this? Any advice or design help is appreciated. From the network side I am leary about 1 big pool vs 4 manageable IP pools.
Thanks,
Mike
Since you are planning such a large deployment, be sure to keep in mind some of the limits on components in View.
For example, View Composer can only create and provision up to 512 desktops per pool. Also, be sure to take into account other factors like ports on your virtual switches (default is 120), adding more than one connection server to handle the load, etc.
Most of the limits you will run into are discussed in the VMware View Architecture Planning Guide and VMware View Composer Design Considerations.
Good luck!
