Custom (per-user) Desktop Icons on Linked Clones?

Is it possible to allow users to keep their desktop icons settings with linked clones? The base image has a set that overwrites whatever the users have added or whatever they delete when we re-compose.

Yes, set up desktop redirection in your Windows GPO. You can even do that with My Documents, Downloads, My Images etc.

You cant do that with a linked clone floating pool though.

You need to look into user environment management software, such as Liquidware Labs ProfileUnity or VMware's UEM.  Not only can you redirect Desktop/My Documents/etc on any kind of clone, ProU can capture end user settings and preferences at logoff and restore them at login.
