Connection Server upgrade to 4.6

Hi,

Environment : We have 1 Connection server (view 4.0 and Windows server 2003) and 2 security servers (view 4.0 and Windows server 2003).

I am planning to upgrade all servers to 4.6 and Windows server 2008 R2.

Does anyone has any suggestion ? How should I start ?

Check out this upgrade guide, http://www.vmware.com/pdf/view-46-upgrades.pdf.     I think you should upgrade to View 4.6 first and then move on to the 2008 upgrades.

So it would be :

• Upgrade all 3 servers to view 4.6
  
• build new servers with 2008 and install view 4.6 making new servers as replica servers.
  
• Shutdown the old servers.

Actually since two of them are security servers you should be able to follow the steps below.

1:  upgrade connection broker to View 4.6

2:  shutdown both security servers.

3:  build two new 2008 R2 security servers. 

4:  build new 2008 connection broker and make it a replica of the upgraded connection broker.

make sure you backup everything.
