Connection Server connect without logon?

Hi,

I am trying to set up a View infrastructure but want to make the change as transparent to the users as possible. Using Dell's FX100 (by Teradici) I am able to connect to the Connection Server, authenticate, and then be presented to my Windows VM desktop via SSO. I want to be able to have a user click connect, and have it automaticallly be presented with a Windows VM logon, where they can then enter their credentials to the Windows logon screen (no preauthentication with the VM Connection Server). Is this possible? If so, how?

Thanks,

Try this

Create pools and entitle with a generic user account

Allow multiple connections per user to this pool or entitle multiple accounts

Create a Vicew client shortcut specifying all required parameters ie, username, password, domain, pool etc.. with View Client CLI commands.

Disable SSO.

I'm not sure whether this will work with PCoIP as i believe SSO is mandatory for PCoIP.

Thanks npeter. That would work great if I was using View Client, but with a ThinClient or ZeroClient I would have to have a way to input the creds into the device itself and there isnt such an option on the devices I have.

PCoIP doesnt actually require SSO (with what Ive seen)

Im thinking of setting up Kiosk mode, but intentinally breaking SSO so the user is presented with a Windows logon screen. Just an idea... Ill post back if it works. If anybody else has any ideas, Im all ears!

Ended up setting up Kiosk stations, using only a single AD user account for all stations, and disabling SSO. Users are now presented with a Windows logon screen when the ZeroClient starts up. This isnt perferred because it still leaves an AD account out there, but i think it will work for now.

It would still be nice to have the designed option of not being forced to authenticate with the Connection Server. VMWare, hint hint.

Have you thought about other clients?  We are a K-12 school and run 300 PANO zero clients from Pano Logic plus we also use the standard view client for other "desktops".  Our setup is we use View to manage all aspects of the desktop VM but then for areas where we have the zero clients we let PANO manage the logon process. With PANO we can either let the SSO happen or we can setup what they call "windows logon" in this mode the when the PANO is turned the user see the standard Windows logon which helps us a lot in our media centers because the students "think" they are just logging on to a standard PC.

Thanks Camek,

That sounds like a great product. However, after reviewing the Pano documentation it looks like it is limited to 1000 zero clients. I understand that it can integrate in with View Manager for deployments over 1000, but that would just start to complicate the VDI by having 2 'brokers.' I also see that it doesnt support PCoIP, which is something that is industry standard and something we would prefer to keep.
