If we want to do virtualize the physical Desktop, can than all or most of the folowing applications/hardware be run in a vm?

the short answer is no, if u read the posts here u will find out what is possible. if u need loads of peripherals i would not go virtual, there is still problems with video and multi media too

makes a lot of sense for certain workloads but it is not yet the end of the pc and laptop

How to integrate mobile Laptop Users in a VDI Solution?

The simple answer on this question is similar... "not yet."

ACE is a plausible solution to this question, but I don't think it's yet at the point you can start swapping out mobile users. It all depends on the situation and environment, but ACE does definitely have it's uses currently. It's just not ready to replace the standard mobile user laptop image. There has been a lot of talk of a future where you may be able to "check out" a VDI to a laptop for portable use, but that is some time off I'm sure.
