Change Parent VM network settings with script?

I'd like to keep my Parent VM running with a static IP, so my engineers don't have problems accessing it to make the changes that are needed, but obviously need to have it set to DHCP before I take a snapshot of it.

Is there script that I can run to assign a static IP at VM startup and change it back to DHCP at shutdown?

And, before you say it, yes I know you could do this within the OS with either a login/logoff or VMware Tools script, but I can't have that in the guest OS because then it would be present in all of the clones. Not good.

Hi there,

I dont think that there is another way. Why cant you give an vCenter client to the developers and just give them Virtual Machine Administrator rights?

Thanks,

Christoph
