Can't connect with view client

Hi

i can connect to my first winXP machine with rdp, but the view client tells me that there is an connection error (http error, status = 400). In the field "Connection server" i used the IP of my ESX-Host.

What did i do wrong or where is it described what to do to make it work?

Thanks a lot

Malte

Sorry, just to clarify, the connection server is a separate windows server (can be virtual) that has the connection server software installed. It is within its web interface that you configure all the settings for your desktops, your pools of desktops and which users or groups are entitled to use them. Although view uses the rdp protocol for connection the view client is not just a remote desktop client.

You also need the view-agent installed within the virtual desktop machine you want to connect to.

Once you point the client at the connection server, it will display all virtual desktops that have been entitled to the user you authenticated with. The administrator does not automatically see or is entitled to use any desktops, you have to manually set the entitlements.

Yes, i can ping both host and virtual machine. I just checked again if there is a firewall active on my PC where i start the view client. It was/is switched off. No other firewall installed. Both computers (ESX and view client) are connected through the same (dumb) switch.

Thanks

In the connection server you need to point it to the broker, the view connection server, that is where all the config and connections are controlled by not the esxhost.

Oh. I did not install the connection server. I found the software but did not know what it was about and left it.

Thanks

I did an install of about 20 virtual desktops deployed automatically and its reasonably easy to set up. Its worth having a look at as I think you get a 60 evaluation period on the view manager connection server.

The best way to install is actually following the vmware pdf - the view installation guide as it will talk you through the process of not just the connection server but also the agents and how to properly configure your desktops.
