we wanted to allow our professors the ability to play dvd's in the classroom. We are using PCoIP and not RDP. We do not want to use USB. Is the only solution to virutal cd\dvd mount?
You must use USB drives or virtual mounts as you stated. The local drives will not pass through to the View Client, assuming the solution you want to use is View on a desktop PC utilizing the local CD/DVD.
If you're using zero clients, here is a list of tested drives by Teradici: http://techsupport.teradici.com/ics/support/default.asp?deptID=15164&task=knowledge&questionID=566
What type of client are you using, and does that have a built-in cd/dvd drive? If not, and you're not allowing USB, you've run out of choices for that peripheral connection.

Dell 755 computers with internal dvd drives. One of our contractors says it can happen. Doesn’t sound like it from these forums.
This may work:

Did you successfully use DVDs inside virtual desktops? What was performance like?
