Blurry Horizon Client (2111) on MacBook Pro M1 with notch

I just got my new MacBook Pro with M1 and the top notch and the Horizon Client is not displaying the desktops as they should... It looks like things get out of proportions. I have tested Blast and PCoIP, updated agent to latest (now tested on 3 different agents versions) and there is no difference.
Published Apps work fine.

Have also tested MS RDP client and Citrix Receiver and they work fine.

I am guessing this is a bug in the 2111 client but is anyone has a workaround to fix this until the client is updated and fixed my eyes would appreciate it :slightly_smiling_face:

Would you please connect the desktop, then goto its menu bar, "Connection"->"User full resolution in Retina display", check it on and see whether it works as expected? Or logoff and reconnect if not.

Looks a lot better now.

Never needed to use that setting on my old (Retina) 15" MacBook Pro, but I guess you do on the new ones .

Thanks :slightly_smiling_face:

To VMware: Feature request for global client setting to allow to use Full Retina as default on desktops. Now you have to logon to desktop and then change.

Macaulay,

What's the version of your horizon agent,  horizon client and client OS?

 Is this issue first occur?

How about goto vcenter, power off the vm, wait 30s then power on?

Is your issue occurs in multiple monitor or just single monitor, or both?

Please make sure "Client settings window"->select your vm->"go to Display" tab, make sure Resolution and Scaling is "Automatic"

Thanks & Regards

I'm having the same issue on my M1 MBP. I wasn't having this issue before I updated the client earlier this week and it's only happening on one of my dock/display setups, normal dual screen 1080p displays.

macOS:

MPB M1 2020

Monterey 12.2.1 (21D62)

VMware:

Version 2111.1

Build 8.4.1 (19484634)

I've tried with multiple monitors and single monitor, nothing changes, the text is still very blurry. I have powered the VM off/on. I also ensured scaling and resolution are both set to automatic. Nothing changes.

Jagator,

After launch the vm, would you please make sure the menu item in "Connection"->"User full resolution in Retina display" is turn on?

Thanks & Regards

Hi, sorry for the delay, I forgot about this post and have just been dealing with the screen issue. The problem is still occurring, with the setting enabled/disabled. I have 2 different docking environments I work in, both with dual external displays. One has matching 22" 1080p monitors and the other has a 24" 1080p monitor and a 34" 3440x1440 monitor. That means they do each have a different aspect ratio since once is 21:9 and the other is 16:9. However, I have this problem on any configurations I use with a 1080p monitor, even on the environment with matching monitors. So far I have not been able to find any sort of fix.

Jagator,

Would you please reproduce this issue and collect the log from About window then upload here?

Please provide the timestamp issue occur.

Besides, as the selected solution in the topic, "Full resolution Mode" settings is turned off by default in version 2111, that's why you hit this issue after upgrade.

You have to manually turn on them in the desktop vm's menu bar. Please note that, each desktop vm has different settings, you have to turn on them one by one after connecting them. Please refer the attached screenshot.

Thanks & Regards

Zhenghua
