Black Screen when launching Virtual Desktop

I have one user that is getting a black screen when connecting to their virtual desktop(linked clone).  I tried deleting the profile and regenerating it with no luck.  It seems like I'm in the desktop and I can send Ctrl + Alt + delete to launch task manager but other than that it's just a black screen.  I tried to switch protocols to RDP but the results are the same.  Any suggestions?

Thanks for your response "vcpguy".  The solution was to delete the profile and recompose the linked clones(dedicated pool).  I'm assuming that just recomposing would have solved the problem since that purges the profile settings completely unlike a refresh which I tried first.

Can you uninstall the vmware tools and display drivers and install it again? I have seen similar issue in the past and I think un-installtion and re-install fixed it.

Thanks

Are you using floating or dedicated pool? What kind of device you are using to connect to the environment ? Did you try to connect via vSphere client and see the same result ?

Often times a similar cause is updating VMware Tools without first removing the View Agent. Tools and Agent both come with their own Video Driver - the View Agent should always be installed last. If your Tools install is a more recent install date than the View Agent:

1. UNinstall View Agent // reboot

2. UNinstall VMware Tools // reboot

3. Install VMware Tools (You may choose custom and choose not to install the sVGA driver) // reboot

4. Install View Agent // reboot

-- verify you have the proper Video Driver per http://kb.vmware.com/kb/1029706

5. Perform 'ipconfig /release' and shutdown VM

6. Take snapshot and recompose Pool
