Automated desktop pools when DHCP server is filtering on MAC addresses?

Hello folks,

We are considering enabling MAC address filtering on our W2K8R2 DHCP server.  There are two scopes and one of them handles our VMware View VMs.

I am wondering if enabling MAC address filtering will negatively effect our View VMs or when VMs are generated from within View admin console and using vCenter templates and or Composer Linked Clones?

We will populate the Allow list with known MAC addresses including existing View VMs, but concerned about what to do going forward and or how to know what to pre-populate?

Any comments?

Thanks

Mac address filtering can have a negative impact on the desktops as it can block the mac addresses that begin with 00 without intervention, and cause desktop disconnects.

Thank for that feedback.

We are considering turning off MAC address filtering temporarily if/when we created automated desktop deployments from View.

Then turn it back on after knowing the new desktop MACs, and creating those entries in the allow list.
