When I'm using the view client from home with our corporate VPN, I get the following error about 25% of the time: "The view connection server connection failed. The handle is in the wrong state for the requested response." I usually end up restarting the View client, start/stop VMware services, etc. and eventually it works. Not sure what causes it, because as Isaid, it doesn't happen everytime.
Is there any kind of load balancer involved? I am assuming you don't have any Security Server and users connect first to their VPN and then launch the View Client.
What' the client version you use? You can try 2.3 client on Download VMware Horizon View Clients for View. if you still got the error, Can you please upload the client debug log base on the steps from kb1017939, Thanks.
This is something that I have seen off and on and tried to fix in the View Client whenever it came up. Overall I would say that upgrading to the 2.3 client as pengwang said is the best idea, as it is a completely different codebase and highly unlikely to have the same issue.
If you do need to stay on the older Windows View Client, then I don't have a bulletproof way to fix it. However, I did come across a bug where someone else reported something similar and it ended up being (1) a firewall issue in the security server and (2) a certificate issue in the security server. So you would want to verify that the Windows Firewall is correctly configured on the server and that any replacement certificate that was installed was put in the right place and has a valid issuer chain.
