A Full featured Linux diskless thin client for vmware view

Hi community !

Recent release of vmware view Horizon client for Linux, since 3.2, allow  to have advanced features like PCoIP and USB redirection.

So I've written a setup script to deploy thin client image with help of LTSP project.

I use it without issues with old PCs in some of our classrooms (50 PCs). This is well apreciated as it boots faster..

Project is on github here :leschartreux/ltsp-vmview · GitHub.

You'll find informations in README,

This is not very well tested, and there are certainly imporvements.

All comments, issues are welcome.

Hope this will help.

Regards.

Update.

  • Preselected options for silent install
  • Tested with last version of View Client 3.4. This works too. Must answer no about USB as a service installation (as it is already in autostart).
  • Can be upgraded from 3.2 in client's root. Just make sure to have only one bundle file in the setup directory.

I have no such device to test this feature.

As seen in https://www.vmware.com/pdf/horizon-view/horizon-client-linux-document.pdf

This should work too if all requirements are meet.

Linux side : a compatible driver for reader is enough.

ltsp-vmview side : just modify no to yes in this line of setupvmview.sh :

--set-setting vmware-horizon-smartcard smartcardEnable no
