In terms of 3D acceleration the current http://3.1 (and past) releases of view are limited by 2 things:
RDP
No 3d acceleration hardware in ESX (servers don't usually carry acceleration hardware)
While Vista is technically capable of rendering 3D images and passing them across the wire the underlying physical and virtual hardware cannot support the rendering.
In other words there is no current support for 3D acceleration in VMware View.

Hi,
thanks for your answer,
i thought there were solutions by 3rd party vendors that offer a modifed thin client that supports 3d acceleration
(i think that one of them was presented at the last vmworld..)

in the end, it would be a 3rd party solution, not existing in VMware View
sometimes even a 3rd party broker would have that kind of functionality (like vWorkspace)
hope when Teradici appears integrated with VMware View it gets solved (finally)

I have 3D working in my enviroment,
RGS, and the view client, both using the correct settings, does work.

that was my point, RGS is third party
Here install these in the correct oder;
1. RGS 5.2.5
2. View 3.1.1
(naturally all of your View enviroment must be at the 3.1.1 level)

Sorry for taking a while to get back on this.
So View 3.1 supports using RGS as a protocol for connecting to physical HP PCs and blades not VMs. I also just found out HP will be dropping support for RGS by the end of the year (http://www.virtualization.info/2009/04/hp-to-drop-rgs-and-sam-exit-vdi-market.html )- so you can use this as an options for 3D through view to physical computers that are manufactured by HP.
