Doing some experimental setup in the lab. Running ESXI 5.5 U3 with a Windows 7 VM. I installed the Horizon Agent 7.3.1 inside the Windows 7 VM. I also installed the direct-connection plugin in the vm. I don't want to do a full setup, since I'm just testing. Using the Horizon Client on a PC, I can connect to my guest VM and login without any problems. I'm going directly over a gigabit lan. However, the desktop seems pretty laggy, and I definitely can't do 1080p video. I have tried with and whithout html5 redirection. There is lots of artificating and the frame rate is like 2 or 3 fps and looks heavily compressed. I have tried with and without h264 compression. This link here VMware View 5.2 Documentation Library seems to indicate that I should be able to do it with just CPU. I have 8 VCPUs allocated to the machine, my server has 8 cores and 16 threads, doing nothing else. I don't have vgpus or vsga enabled. Is it possible the Client or the agent just aren't up to the task? Maybe vmware just overestimates what can be supported? I see there are many gpos that I can change, but I wonder if this just isn't possible without vsga or or some other gpu acceleration. Thanks!
