How many drops we are getting during VM migration

Dear Team,

We are planning to migrate a VMs (VCF3.x)  to VCF4.x using HCX (bulk migration), we would like to know if there is any script/query (vrli/vrni) we can run to find after how many pings drop VMs are getting online, so can keep a track as we have seen 3 to 20 ping drops during VM migration.

Thank you in advance.

There are multiple tool available to perform and record ping checks for multiple servers. If it is permissible to use Open Source software, you can take a look at PingInfo. It is. a ping monitoring utility, can modify ping parameters according to your needs and later save report in excel format.

With that said, In my view, Ping Monitoring is not a good solution as sometimes ICMP is blocked and also, it doesn't give any indication about application state running in OS.

Hope this helps.

Hi, for bulk migration, the VM will be powered off in the source environment and powered on in the destination environment. Are you meaning to count the number of ping drops to find out how long it takes for the destination VM to become powered on and connected to the network?
