HCX VM exclusion list.

Dear Team,

We are migrating from VCF3.x to VCF4.x, we have used MC to migrate DFW Rules (using advanced Distributed Firewall mode). Now we are going to migrate the workload from VCF3.x to VCF4.x using HCX bulk migration. Just wanted to double-check do we need to put the HCX VM in the exclusion list or it's not required. because when we use Bridge to extend the network we put Bridge Edge VMs into the exclusion list. Please assist..

Thank you in advance.

Which HCX VMs?

You need ports open as published in VMware Ports and Protocols:

https://ports.esp.vmware.com/home/VMware-HCX

If the DFW in the target (VCF 4) environment is enabled, any workload VMs which are migrated will be subject to DFW rules, even if they are on a stretched network.

Chris

If we use Bridge for L2 extension, then in that case we put the Bridge edge VMs in NSX Exclusion list, same methodology applies to HCX as well , Please assist..
