HCX Migration from VMC to On Prem with L2 Extension

Hi All,

I am  looking to migrate from VMC to On Prem Datacenter(Vsphere) using HCX.

Can we do L2 Extension while migration from VMC SDDC to On Prem DC?

There is no requirement to have NSX at source. For HCX Network Extension you do require a vSphere Distributed Switch.

Hey Chris,

Thanks for the update.

Today we just got the confirmation that we would be installing NSX T at the on prem side and we are migrating workloads from VMC to On Prem DC.

So basically we have the following scenario:

Source - VMware cloud on AWS SDDC

Destination - On Prem DC(Vsphere)

The question is with the help of HCX can we do L2 extension from VMC(Source) to On Prem DC(Destination).

Sorry, I misread the OP.

Yes, you can migrate from VMC to on-prem, including extending networks. Be aware, you will face egress charges.

Always recommended to unstrech the network extension after migrating the vm.
