Error message

I keep getting the following error message and have no idea how to fix it.

"This Virtual Machine cannot be powered on because it requires the X86 machine architecture, which is incompatible with this Arm machine architecture host"

I have no idea what this means!

The Apple M1 machines use an ARM based chip, which can't run virtual machines from an Intel based machine.  There's no way to fix it - you'll need a new virtual machine that is an ARM based OS.

How do you get a new VM?

Build/create/install it.  Refer to the user guide/release notes for this tech preview.

Can you provide a bit more info on how you have set up the vm and which operating system you are using?

As explained above you can only use operating systems that are meant for ARM64 (sometimes also named aarch64) and be aware that the Tech Preview is more like an alpha version (read: it can be buggy).
