Reported VM HD size for a Debian 11 VM can be way off

I have two Debian 11 VM's in my library.
For the first VM the reported VM HD size shows a healthy 5.6 GB. This is correct.
For the second VM the reported VM HD size shows a meager 2.6 MB (yes, MB, not GB), which is of course way off.

What could be the difference between the two VM's?
The only thing I can think of is that the first VM was created as a custom VM whereas the second one was created by dropping the iso on the "install from disc or image".

Ref attached screendump "vm-info-220906.png" showing the 2.6 MB VM HD size.
Ref attached dirdump "vm-220906.txt" showing the files of the second VM.

That's strange. I'm actually seeing the same things for a Debian 11 VM, a Debian testing VM, a Fedora Rawhide.VM and an Ubuntu 22.10 VM.. A Windows , Fedora 36 and OpenSUSE Tumbleweed VMs are OK.

I hadn't really noticed this  before. I tend to create all of my VMs with drag/drop of the ISO, so I don't think that's causing what I'm seeing here.

I'd report this directly to the developers via email to fusion-beta@vmware.com and include as much info as possible.

I've noticed a pretty common bug in Finder like this - bundles often only show 2.6 MB when they're actually multi-gig.  So if Fusion is using the same API, that might be the root cause.

The Finder is reporting multi-GB sizes for each of my impacted VMs. The Fusion Virtual Machine Library is not reporting the same size.

(Not saying that an API bug isn't behind all of this, though)...

I just noticed the following:

Right click on an impacted VM, and select "Show Info". You'll be re-directed to the VM's General Settings, where it appears that the size of the VM is more what you'd expect it to be.

Go back to the Virtual Machine Library, and you'll now find that the "Hard Disks" size for the VM has been updated.

This tells me that this is a Fusion bug, not a macOS bug.

In the Library window, there's a refresh button next to the disk bar graph. Clicking on that should update the size shown.

D'oh!  If it'd been a snake it would have bit me.

Although, to be fair, that refresh button is pretty small, especially if you're on a large monitor.

Holy squinting, Batman!

That button is indeed very small. Pressing it however does the job.
Ponders the question why the info isn't updated upon, for example, starting Fusion and/or selecting the VM. Doesn't seem to be such a burden on the cpu or file system.
All in all it doesn't really seem to be a bug since we have the update button, but from a UI perspective there is at least some "room for improvement". As such, I'll inform the dev team of this via fusion-beta@vmware.com.

Thx for your help and insights.
