On my MacBook Pro (m2 pro chip), ChemOffice runs slowly, no matter what the version.

Is ChemOffice a native Windows ARM application, or is it compiled for Intel Windows?  If It's compiled for Windows, could what you're seeing be a result of the application having to run under Microsoft's Intel to ARM translator?

Also, does ChemOffice require 3D acceleration, and if so, what does it support? If it's not DirectX 11, then it's probably resorting to software 3D, which would be understandably slow.

If you check the performance utilities within the VM, what is it saying about resource utilization?

What version of Windows 11 are you running (you can use the "winver" utility to tell you), how much memory, and how many CPUs do you have assigned to the VM?

If it runs on Fusion 13, that has no 3D acceleration. And if I remember correctly, neither does UTM.

If you're running that VM on the Tech Preview, have you tried turning off 3D acceleration in the VM's settings?

Please post some more info about the problem. If it is in running directly on you MacBook, I think you are at the wrong community.

If it s running in Fusion, please post some more info about steps taken.

Are you using the latest tech preview, or the first one?  Did you create the VM in Fusion 13 or build it fresh with the TP?  Did you use the unofficial guide instructions?  And how many cores and how much RAM is set for the guest.

I use the latest tech preview. I install win11 in VMware, then install ChemOffice on win11. I use official guide instructions, and other applications run well. 4 cores CPU and 12G RAM.

If you built it using the VHDX, use the unofficial guide instructions instead.

Thanks. However I built it by iso.

This app (or suite of apps) appears to use OpenGL for hardware acceleration. The Fusion ARM Tech Preview graphics driver does not have OpenGL support (it is something we're aware of).

Today I try it again. I think it should be a bug of Fusion 2023 Tech Preview. Because when I run ChemOffice on Fusion 13 and free UTM, they can run well. I hope that the bug can be repaired. Thanks.

Thanks a lot. I try to turn off 3D acceleration in the VM's settings, ChemOffice can run well eventually! The problem is finally solved!

I’m finding that the latest UTM release is installing SPICE tools into a Windows 11ARM VM. dxdiag iis reporting those drivers have some DX12 profiles. This is not the same as what dxdiag is reporting when VMware’s SVGA 3D driver is used under Fusion.

It would not surprise me if this is part of the reason why ChemOffice performs poorly when Fusion’s 3D acceleration is enabled.

VMware really needs to focus on getting DX12 support into their 3D drivers.

Thanks a lot. I sincerely hope that Fusion’s 3D acceleration can do better.
