AFAIK the official limit for a VMDK (not a RDM) is 950GB.

I thought the max file supported in a VMDK is 2 TB - this is per the config maximiums -

yes you can

when you configure your storage you need to be careful with block size. That's limit the size of VMFS partition.

for instance with block size of 4M you can go up to 1024 Go

be careful when your storage is formatted you cannot change block size. So you need to plan this before.

The max file size is 2TB. However the last documented max. VMDK size I'm aware of is 950GB.

Another reason to update the guest specs .

I think some of that information has been roled into the Config masimums pdf -

The things I'm referring to previously were in the Guest OS guide and now are missing completely - there's more than the max. number of vCPUs and memory.
