esx and intel 5400 vs 7300 series

I dont want to include 7400 series yet... But I wanted to know truely how much more performance does one get out of the higher end 7300 series intel chips vs the 5400 series? Let just assume the same number of procs 2 x 5400/7300 quad cores.

We have always been using the 5300/5400 intel chips for esx, but are considering the higher end but we are not sure if it is worth it.

Hello,

You can start with 5400 and with the use of EVC you can add 7400 anytime you want with no loss of vMotion capability. I already setup my cluster for EVC and it takes a bit of fiddling but does work well.

edward - we wanted to know if there is really more performance in purchasing the higher end chip. We are thinking it will not be that noticeable.
