We have 10 DELL R805's all with Quad Core Opteron 2352 Processors (2.1Ghz 2MB)
We are about to buy another 8 hosts, (these however will be M605 Blades). The first plan was to stick the same procs in them as our previous order. However I'm wondering if it is time to put some faster chips in these to give us better performance on our single vCore VM's.
What other procs should I be looking at that will be vMotion compatible with my current kit?
TIA
Mike
Hello,
I would contact your VMware Sales Rep and make sure those procs are on the VMware vSphere HCL, which should be released soonish I would say.
They must be 64bit with AMD-V/Intel-VT and No eXecute ability. WIth AMD you should not have many issues however. I would just be sure.
