VMware farm sizing vs LUNs size

Imagine a huge environment:

16 hosts with 2 TB Luns, each host with some 90 VMs (say all with the same requirements in term of performance and availability).

From experience, considering only the number of paths to each hosts, what will be the best practice and why ?

1 farm with 16 hosts and a number of 2 TB Luns (a certain number of paths) or

2 farms with 8 hosts each and twice the number of 1 TB Luns (half the number of paths because half number of hosts but twice number of paths because the size of Luns... total equal the same number of paths)

Thanks all for your reply

I consider the best practice to be "you want the same LUN presented to every host in a cluster". There are limits to the number of LUNs you can present to each host, often 255, but also often SAN dependant. Once you get anywhere near this, you should be creating a new cluster for a second set of LUNs.

The other thing to consider is the current limit of 32 hosts in a cluster - obviously you can't exceed this, and larger numbers are better handled separately.
