There isn't a "best" choice.
It depends by what do you need.
VDR is a "simple" solution for B2D and it works with a virtual appliance and a vCenter Server plugin.
It can save also to a NAS system (CIFS protocol is supported).
VCB is only a "framework" and you need a proxy server (physical or also virtual) but usually also a backup program.
It require to do some "scripting", for this reason could be not so simple (the first time).

Hi Andre,
Can i say that the better option is that using 3rd party application which utilize vStorage API ? Because by using that feature, it can support Block chnage level tracking (Data De Duplication) and no longer needing VCB proxy in between :-o)
Kind Regards,

3rd party solution is the best choice, yes. But it also require expensive licenses, VCB and VDR are included to all vSphere editions starting from Essentials Plus.

But also the backup program must be a good backup program
