VMware Capacity Planner - Linux RHE 4 AS

Hi,

I have a trouble... I need recolect inventory info from servers with Linux Red Hat Enterprise 4 AS / Red Hat 3 / AIX , etc., and Perfomance info with VMware Capacity Planner, but I can't recolect info of CPU and RAM because i have errors with the dmidecode and lsdev command, this commands return "commad not found, i attach the log:

Sounds like your server doesn't support SMBIOS - nothing you can do about that.

Hello,

Seems like it can not find dmidecode or lsdev on your system. Do a 'where dmidecode; where lsdev' to see if you can locate those programs. You may also wish to look at permissions on those to see if you can execute them as the user you are using for capacity planner.

Hi,

Thanks for your response...

The user is root, this user is "charged" in the Capacity Planner for loggin in this server... I go this monday to do a test...

Please, i need atention in this case, i post the results...

You need to install the dmidecode rpm.

Yes, is part of procinfo,

dmidecode is part of something packet, as systool packet?

I have Linux RHEL 3, RHEL4 , exist for this systems dmidecode RPM and PROCINFO packet? I find in the web

In RHEL 5 I think that I have not problem...

I know they exist for RHEL4, we have them.

We dont use RHEL3 anymore as its so far out of date.

I compile the packe:

dmidecode-2.9.tar.gz

Then, I execute the command

#dmidecode

But i receive the message:

No SMBIOS nor DMI entry point found, sorry

Ok, I understand...

In the Data Manager, I found this option in the collection (attached image)

Can be used to run some

other command or script to extract information about hardware? Or someone has

used this option on these systems?
